To residents of Barefoot Bay. I will be writing a column monthly to keep you informed on incorporation and facilities planning meetings. My main purpose, is to eliminate speculation and misinformation and to help the residents be aware of what is happening with these two committees.
The incorporation committee meets monthly, in the lounge, at 9:30 A.M. Our next meeting is Friday, March 26. Please feel free to attend. We value any and all input. So far, we've met with several towns and have received valuable information. We are scheduling meetings with planners from several towns, free of charge, for their input as to inspect what we have, what we might need to do to go forward and if incorporation is a way for us to go. With regards to the police and fire departments, we anticipate staying with the county sheriffs and fire departments. We are still doing research on the roads and bridges maintenance. The boundries of the incorporated area are still unknown at this time, though our research has uncovered that there are no limits of annexation boundaries and properties do not need to abut the incoporated area. This is a slow process that takes time, we're talking 2 to 3 years. Every property owner will get a chance to vote on this This procedure remains in the research phase. Many questions need to answered before this committee decides to go to the county for grant money for a feasibility study.
The facility planning committee, having successfully completed the Building A bathroom renovations, has been working on the safety and beautification of the parking area, building A, lounge, and areas around pool 1. There will be plans and detailed drawings posted on the bulletin board by building C, in the future. Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday April 9 at 9:30 A.M. in the conference room of Building F. The committee hopes construction will start by June 1 and anticipate 3-4 months for completion.
