Here are some tips that will help you keep the course rangers off of your back by keeping you on track with the desired pace of play on the golf course.
| On the Tee |
If you are ready to hit before the golfer who has the
honors is ready, go ahead and tee off. If you are unsure of what club you will need, bring more than on club with you so that you will not have to go back to the cart. Watch the shots of your fellow golfers, just in case someone loses his ball. Do not delay your shot when the group ahead is realistically out of range. This includes shots on the longer par three holes. Watch your ball all the way until it stops. Then line it up with something nearby to hasten your search. If your ball appears to be lost or out of bounds, hit a provisional ball to avoid the delay of having to go back to the tee. |
| On the Course | Proceed directly to your own ball. Help others look for
their ball only when you have to wait to hit your shot. Plan your shot and select your club on the way to your ball and while others are playing. Take no more than one practice swing, and get set while others are hitting. Do not replay a shot, trying to figure out what went wrong. Do not take mulligans! |
| On the Green | When approaching the green, park your cart or place
your clubs on the side of the green closest to the next tee. Line up you putt while others are putting. Hole out short putts, unless you will be standing on another player's line. Do not replay putts once you have holed out. Go directly to the next tee when you have finished putting. Mark your scorecards at the tee. |
| In an Electric Cart | After teeing off, decide which player should hit first and
drive to that ball. While the first player prepares to hit, the other drives to his ball, plays his shot, then picks up his partner who is walking to the next shot. For pitch, chip and sand shots take all the clubs that you will need to finish the hole, including your putter. The first player on the green, or the player nearest the hole is responsible for parking the cart. Park on the cart path at the closest point between the green and the next tee. |
